Un guide du bien-être chez JCP

Support for Children

At JCP, we believe that for our children to achieve their potential, the pastoral care we give is just as important as the academic support. We believe that supporting children’s well-being is not just something that will help them thrive during their years with us but is something that will continue to help them in the years that follow.

Sometimes, children can experience new situations, feelings, and emotions they do not always understand. This can be incredibly stressful and confusing, and it can stop them taking part in learning and fully enjoying school life.

This might make them feel bad about themselves and change their relationships with parents, teachers, and friends – which can be confusing for them too!

At JCP, we do not just teach subjects, we help young children to develop the skills to grow. JCP is pleased to be able to offer pastoral support in areas including:

  • Emotional Awareness
  • Self-esteem
  • Anger
  • Separation Anxiety
  • Sleep problems
  • Loss and Grief
  • Separation and Divorce
  • Friendships

Our Pastoral Support Team offers a listening ear to our children who may be feeling sad, angry, are having anxious thoughts, or are just feeling “wobbly”. We help them recognise, understand, manage, and express challenging emotions in our fabulous Nurture Room, a homely, calm environment away from the classroom. Support is given on a 1:1 basis or in a small group depending on need.

How does my child access support through the Pastoral Team?

If you would like your child to receive some wellbeing support, please speak with your child’s class teacher in the first instance. Parents can also email Mrs Gerry Gray directly on g.gray@jcp.sch.je

Support for Families

As well as supporting children as individuals, we pride ourselves on the support we give our families.  We believe that an open and honest relationship with families is key. If you need support as a family or as an adult, please email Mrs Gray on g.gray@jcp.sch.je
